To help keep up with demand and assist the next generation of professionals, Porch will award a $2,000 scholarship four times a year to eligible students. Entries are now being accepted for the Winter scholarship, which runs from January 16, 2021 – April 16, 2021. FAQs Are you eligible? You must be 18 years or over and currently be enrolled as a high school senior, or in a community college, undergraduate, graduate, technical college, or vocational program, or be planning to enroll in a high school, community college, undergraduate, graduate, technical college, or vocational program during the 2021-2022 academic program in the United States. You must have a minimum 3.4 GPA. You must be pursuing a degree that enables you or others in your community to learn a new trade, develop skills and technology, or start a small business related to home services offered by Porch. How are winners selected? Winners will be drawn at random from all eligible entries shortly after the application deadline has ended. How and when do I find out if I won? Winners will be contacted by email within a reasonable time after the application deadline has ended. Can I submit more than one entry? Each scholarship is limited to one entry per person. The Patriot Guard Riders of Missouri are offering four scholarships to Missouri students who are sons or daughters of those who fall within the following categories: (1) Those who have given their lives in the line of duty, including both military and first responder (police/fire) (2) Those honorably discharged veterans who have passed after their term of service (3) Those veterans or first responders disabled in the line of duty to the extent that providing an advanced education cannot be easily realized These scholarships are non-renewable, and consist of one award in the amount of $2,000, and three awards in the amount of $1,000 each, to be awarded to four deserving Missouri students to help defray cost at any accredited institution of higher learning, including vocational and business schools. The Optimist Club of Marble Hill presents the Optimist Essay and Oratorical Contests These contests are open to students under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2020. Local winners will advance to higher level competitions, earn scholarships prizes and gain experience  in writing and public speaking. Local students recent years have won at district and national levels, earning thousands of dollars in prizes  The Essay topic for this year is “Reaching your DReams by Choosing Optimism.”  Contest rules and entry forms are attached and also will be sent by email to language arts teachers. The District price is $2,500. Essays must be submitted by january 23, 2021. Point of contact  is Suw Brewer, 235-0045 or [email protected].  The Oratorical topic for this year is “Healing the World with Optimism.” Contest rules and entry forms are attached and also will be mailed to speech teachers. The local oratorical contest will be late February , with a specific time and place to be announced. The winner at the World competition can win as much as $22,500 in prizes. The point of contact for  the oratorical in Kenneth Shrum, 238-5343 To give students practice in following rules, organization of thought and communicating through writing, the Optimists have conducted a parallel consent for middle-school students and will continue to do the same this year.
